ABOUT SCM TRANSPORTATION
GIVING THE COMMUNITY A LIFT
SINCE 1981!
SCM promotes the independence of seniors and people with disabilities through community-based transportation.
Our friendly, safe and reliable services help people maintain healthy, mobile and connected lives.
SCM currently provides more than 9,500 trips a month to our neighbors who need us. In addition to proffering a stellar service, day in and day out, we are determined to find innovative, thoughtful and sustainable ways to support autonomy
and quality of life through transportation options.
Door2Door Transportation by SCM accepts reservations on a first-come, first-served basis beginning two weeks in advance and spanning to as little as two business days in advance.
Door2Door's highly trained, professional driving staff greets all riders at their door, escorting them safely to our vehicles and to the doorway of their destination.
We provide rides to medical appointments and, also, to grocery stores.
Grocery shopping runs occur weekly and are identified by neighborhoods.
Please call to see when your shopping day would be.
A rider is welcome to have one person escort them on the van.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please remind clients that we provide a free, shared-ride service and we hope that they can be flexible and patient.
A limited amount of federal Title III B transportation is available for both Somerville and Cambridge residents.
Rides are arranged through SCES social work staff. They work with SCM staff to register new riders.
Destinations are negotiated based on individual needs.
The small pool of funds is frequently used as a one-time last resort.
Transportation policies, Title VI and ADA complaint forms, and other information are available in alternative formats upon request at the phone numbers listed above or via email at
[email protected] or [email protected].
For more information visit our SCM Title VI & ADA.
TTY/TDS service is based on using a special TTY telephone terminal (Teletypewriter) that allows a hearing or speech-impaired person to conduct audio telephone calls. The TTY (Teletypewriter) terminal incorporates a keyboard and screen that allows the user to send and receive text messages with a TRS operator (Telecommunications Relay Service). The operator relays the conversion in both or either direction between the impaired and non-impaired parties. Dial 711 from any phone and you will be connected to a TTY relay service that will facilitate the communication. SCM can also originate the call from our office if that is preferable. TTY could also be used to set up a text conversation if that is preferable to communication through the relay.
SCM attempts to address all reasonable requests for modification of its policies, practices, and procedures. Requests for accommodations are resolved during the intake process. If you have an accommodation not addressed during the intake process, please bring it up for discussion.
